One of only a small handful 24-hour races, winning the Daytona 24 is one of the most coveted achievements in modern racing. Watching the cars circulate around the oval is reminiscent of chariot racing once found in massive Roman hippodromes. Daytona is the proving grounds of the twenty-first century.

Peugeot ends Le Mans prototype endurance program

Audi versus Peugeot is battle in Le Mans prototypes that many fans want to see during a weekend of racing. Unfortunately the battle that we all look forward to has come to an end as Peugeot has pulled out of prototype endurance racing effective immediately. "This decision has been taken in the context of a difficult economic environment in Europe," Peugeot said in a statement on Wednesday. "Peugeot has chosen to concentrate resources on its sales performance in 2012." Read more

As we entered the track early Sunday morning the mood for those of us at MSM was more saddened. The first true 'track weekend' of the season will be over in a few short hours. Happiness is quickly restored as the cars are being rolled out of the garages and started. Fuel was topped off for the morning sessions. It's time to set some fast laps!

What were you doing Saturday night? If you were in Daytona Beach, Florida and not at the Speedway you definitely missed out on a good time as Grand-Am was putting on quite a show under the lights! With night practice planned and the glorious weather having continued thousands were on hand during the practice sessions on Saturday.

Roar | Day One

While much of the US was recovering from a cold snap just 24 hours previously the sunny skies and mid 60s to 70s welcomed the teams as they unloaded their machines in preparation for 3 full days of testing at Daytona International Speedway. Excitement was high as a slew of new cars were set to turn wheels in anger and work out any potential kinks that might arise. The Grand-Am Rolex and Continental Tire series is becoming quite the international stew as Ferrari, Audi and Dodge join the ranks of Rolex. Not to be outdone the Continental Tire series sees a new entry from Aston Martin in the form of the Vantage.
