John Allen Special Race Team reveals 2014 season plans, new livery and customer program for 2014.
Atlanta, GA (19 January 2014) Team will tackle the ChumpCar series SouthEast schedule in an updated BMW E30. New sponsors and chassis manufacturer bring years of experience to an already solid program. New for 2014 customer program announced will expand team and offer drivers looking to sample ChumpCar a first hand experience.
Coming off the team’s best finish at Atlanta Motorsports Park the John Allen Special team prepares for the 2014 season in the ChumpCar World Series by announcing first an update to their chassis. The John Allen Special, known as JAS, has switched to a BMW MP4-E30 for the entire season. All 5 full season drivers have been secured for the 2014 campaign. Please see gallery for livery update.
“We had a strong 2013 and we are looking for better results and to have more fun in 2014” Team Owner Halston Pitman commented. “My Team Manager and I discussed what we wanted to do in 2014 and switching up the package was decided as the best course of action. We are excited to make this change and cannot wait to debut the car at Road Atlanta which is our home track.”
Thomas Bae, re-signed Korean hot shoe, commented “It is good to be back with the John Allen Special. I have spent a lot of time behind the wheel and the team always ends up with a solid car that handles exceptionally well. I believe the chassis update to the MP4-E30 will provide more speed, reliability and it looks great. We finished a best P7 in 2013 and we are only looking to improve.”
Core sponsor group of TRM Tuning, Harrison Motorsports, BimmerWorld, The Consignment Shed, MashUp DesignWorks and MotorSportMedia. “We could not have put together this upgrade for 2014 without our awesome sponsors. We are glad to have all on board for this year and with an expanded calendar we plan to see more tracks and see more exposure this year” commented Rich Sainato, Team Manager. “I am also excited to get back into the car and turn some race laps with the team again. We stuck with our core events but will be expanded out to other events in 2014.”
John Allen Special will contest most of the Southeast ChumpCar calendar. As of right now the team has entries in the season opener at Road Atlanta as well as Atlanta Motorsports Park. Other races currently planned are Daytona International Speedway, Sebring International Raceway, Gateway Motorsports Park and Virginia International Raceway. Also possible, pending scheduling, are Homestead-Miami Speedway and a potential visit to Texas. Once confirmed the team will announce these plans directly.
Also new for 2014 is the John Allen Special customer support racing program. The team has been approached by fellow racers that wanting to experience racing with the John Allen Special at some of the most famous tracks in North America. This program is in its infancy but plans expanding quickly. Debut of this program will be at the season opening Road Atlanta race. Danny Gawlik will run with the team during the 14-Hour race at this historic track.
The team as a collective would also like to thank all of the friends and family that donated to the team’s IndieGoGo campaign. After a serious on track incident almost wrote off the car the team rallied with the help of these donations and is now going to be back on track and stronger than ever! Look for final race day livery to be released and an extra thank you for those donations.
