Roar | Day One

While much of the US was recovering from a cold snap just 24 hours previously the sunny skies and mid 60s to 70s welcomed the teams as they unloaded their machines in preparation for 3 full days of testing at Daytona International Speedway. Excitement was high as a slew of new cars were set to turn wheels in anger and work out any potential kinks that might arise. The Grand-Am Rolex and Continental Tire series is becoming quite the international stew as Ferrari, Audi and Dodge join the ranks of Rolex. Not to be outdone the Continental Tire series sees a new entry from Aston Martin in the form of the Vantage.
Day one started slow due to fog but once it lifted the cars made their way from the paddock and out onto the track. The smell of race fuel and the sound of engines bouncing off the high banking of Daytona Speedway was a welcome thing early Friday morning. The new Corvette DP looked racey as it moved high up the banking on the NASCAR turns. Ginassi/Telmex looks to be playing catch up on Day One as the top three spots were all Corvette DPs! In Continental Tire the times would seem the BMW 3 Series loves Daytona as the times posted were very good! Make sure to check out coverage from day two.
